The Fundación para la Vivienda Rural Costa Rica-Canadá was established in 1988, when the Costa Rican - Canadian Rural Housing Program, which was founded thanks to a contribution of the Government of Canada, was transformed to a foundation committed with the rural development of the country. Since the beginning, the foundation has maintained this commitment and makes it real day after day, by financing the building of houses.

Its work has made possible that more than 30 thousand families can have their own house.

In May 1989, the Fundación acquired the character of Authorized Entity of the National Financial System for the Housing Issues. This authorization allows it to operate into the System according to the Law and Regulations of the Banco Hipotecario de la Vivienda (BANHVI).

Our people has been specialized in the topic of rural housing and we operate with a network of rural organizations, which have the responsibility to propose the families for a house, to help them to fulfill the established requirements, to advice them during the construction process, and to collect the monthly loan payments.

Working with the rural organizations has allowed us to improve the quality of the people's life, the rural development, and to promote the attachment of the families to their communities.
